grubshop

Last night, I brought home a chicken cordon bleu from work. It's not on the Subway 'official' menu anymore, but, the ingredients are still in the bain; just a fancy word for refrigerator. It doesn't really matter where you get your ingredients from, just so long as they're fresh.
In the grocery store, if you're having trouble with deciding what exactly 'fresh' means; it usually means shopping the 'perimeter' of the store. This is where produce, meats, dairy, and breads and baked goods from the bakery section, are usually located. Keeping to the perimeter will make acquiring a fresh diet, while bypassing temptation, faster, easier, and less costly.
If you prefer 'take-out', most places give you the low-down on their menu. The benefits to getting fresh food this way is in portion control. The types of food you choose to eat, and the choices you make about how often;these choices are yours to own!
I chose to bring home a chicken breast submarine, baked with swiss cheese, wrapped in black forest ham on a honey-wheat roll, and carefully cut it in half. Portion control...maybe I'll eat the rest for 'brunch'...I can hear my stomach rumbling in agreement~

Grubmix

Eating a balance of good foods is critical to good health!
Having said that, how you MIX it up is up to you. Some folks like to eat traditional breakfast foods at what used to be considered dinnertime. Now, with a greater portion of today's workforce working odd hours, third-shift, split-shift, etc,..well, you get my point. Times have changed! I mean that literally; our lifestyles and schedules dictate our eating patterns almost as much as the choices we make. Remember to MIX it up. Keep a balance between what and when you eat and the amount of activity and rest you allow yourself. Leave the table 'one bite hungry'...Granny Lil♥

grubfast

It's nearly impossible to recognize hunger unless you let yourself experience it. So, going without a meal ot two occasionally, can actually be good for you. In fact, the word 'breakfast' taken literally, is just that...
and eating after a FAST, should quell a true feeling of hunger, complete with audible growling and some recognizable mood changes. Most hungry folks get grouchy and a become a bit hypoglycemic. Recognize hunger, and try not to confuse it with being tired or bored.
Boredom is not hunger; be careful that you don't confuse the two! Now go outside and find something to do~

grubwork

Grubwork: loosely defined: the amount of activity you need to do to EARN your grub! It only makes sense that you need to put some fuel in the car...but, not if you haven't driven it anywhere, and the tank is full.
Today's grubwork for me..mowing the lawn. I also have to work for three hours at the Subway, and some of the tasks are pretty physical. Some of my duties require both speed, endurance, and sometimes even concentration, and although not as strenuous as the yardwork, still count as activity.
I am tempering that activity with a nice, long lounge in the sun in my favorite chair.
For grub? Well, so far, I have downed a yoo-hoo, and some sauteed cabbage with shaved carrots, that my daughter made before leaving for work. I think the leftover tuna on a toasty, seeded roll will tide me over 'til dinner. Tonight's choice, a toasted veggie with provolone on a honey-oat wheat roll~ don't really care what time it is!

bloglog

I have decided to use this "Grubclub" blogsite to complement it's counterpart site: "grubclub"...no caps. Also, to keep a journal on my daily quest for balance! I hope it helps. Of course, you know about yesterday's fish taco and the short walk to and from the tiki hut, but, this log will be just a bit more detailed, and in run concert with my 'little grub' commentary.
Follow both blogs to get great, realistic eating and exercise ideas.
